GLPS Popsong Contest!

Saturday afternoon the entire GLPS campus competed in a class PopSong Contest! Where each class had to memorize a song and a dance to be performed in front of an audience of their peers and a panel of judges. Class 9 chose to perform "Good Time" by Carl Rae Jepsen and had an amazing dance choreographed by the Class PA. Everyone did a great job and had a lot of fun!

The Minute To Win It Campaign!

Thursday night, all the students in Global Awareness got a chance to compete for the opportunity to win a campaign for their class's Global Awareness Topic. Students have been working hard to create a one minute speech to sell their choices to the judges, and tonight everyone had a fun time presenting their ideas.

Class 9 chose three topics they wanted to compete for:

Be Kind to Animals:

Save the Bees:

Homelessness:

All three topics were difficult subjects to reduce to a one minute pitch for their class, and most had several other classes competing for the same campaigns!

The competition was fierce, and Class 9 was awarded the campaign for:
Save the Bees!

Students in Class 9 will soon be campaigning for this topic so keep an eye out for blog posts by teams, artwork, and awareness campaigns!

Here is some information on the other two topics this class competed for:

Welcome to Global Awareness!

Are you ready to have fun and share with the world a topic you think needs attention? Here is your chance to make a difference and create a Global Awareness Campaign to share what you think is important in the world today.

Just a few Previous Campaign topics:
Stop Global Warming! No pollution is the solution!  Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Watch your waste! Stop smoking. Don’t Drink and Drive, Arrive Alive. Just say NO to Bullying.

In your class, you and your fellow students will choose from a list of topics your teacher presents to you. After you select 3 possible topics you will break into 3 groups to make a "pitch" for that topic. In your groups you will work together in order to tell us why your class should have a chance to create a campaign to raise awareness about the topic, why is the topic important to you, and how will you raise awareness about it.

On Thursday evening, all classes in Global Awareness will attend an event called "GLPS has got talent!" where your class will pitch your 3 topics to a group of judges.  The class that does the best job of convincing the judges that they are the best class to raise awareness for their chosen topic will win the topic and get to use it for their Global Awareness Campaign.

Remember, you only have "one minute to win it", so work on creating a pitch that is persuasive and convincing in only 1 minute.

Ready, set, go!

Remember to work as a TEAM to create a pitch for your topics.
